The Republic of the Philippines, with the capital in Manila, is scattered over 7,641 islands, with the total area of 300,000 square km and a population of about 100 million. The 33th largest economy in the world with the GDP of over 310 billion US dollars is still in transition, from agricultural to industrial. Despite the fact that nearly 30 percent of the country’s workforce are still busy in agriculture, the 14 percent working in the industrial sector generate almost half of the nation’s GDP.
